Imagine curling up on the couch, getting out your notebook or laptop and musing on sweet nostalgic moments with a warm cup of tea.
Imagine being able to feel the full spectrum of human emotions with a clear outlet to understand and accept it all.
Those stories that clutter your head. Those times that lie heavy on your heart. Those precious memories, slowly fading.
Be the writer of your own story: discover links between memories and reclaim moments from a place of meaning.
Imagine being guided through a journey that makes art of your past, that prompts you to contemplate in a safe and uplifting space.
Imagine being able to tell your story in an artful way, a beautiful way, a way that leaves both you and your reader feeling wiser.
Feel what it is to slow down and take the time to really sit with what needs to be contemplated.
Feel the fulfillment of finding a thread and following it through, unravelling and re-weaving the ties of your history… alchemising and organising.
Imagine finding a refuge in your writing, something you can return to again and again
Your innate steadiness in this swirling modern reality.

About The Format …
We meet for six, 2-hour webinars in small, intimate groups at 8-10am PST | 11am-1pm EST | 4-6pm GMT on Sundays. All calls are strongly recommended to gain the full experience of the course and for group stability. Calls will be recorded and notes shared for those who need to miss a session.
During this call we will:
discuss a theme as a group
work with guided meditative practices to access a mindful state of inspiration and enquiry
explore sample pieces of writing to explore style and content
dive into personal creative writing based on prompts that are tailored to the theme and the moment
write from prompts using both Memoir craft tools and Writing Therapy practices
learn simple and effective ways to improve your writing
write from a place of present moment awareness, leaving you feeling relaxed and inspired
have opportunities to share your writing and receive support and feedback
For each call you will receive a summary worksheet, including suggestions for optional mindfulness practices and writing prompts during the week. Manual totals 60 pages and contains plenty of inspiration, ideas, prompts, craft tools and exercises to keep you going for a while after the course.
This is a small, intimate group experience with live support and guided practices continued through our Whatsapp group during the week. Minimum course commitment is 2 hours for live calls each week, or watching the replay if necessary.
We also recommend setting aside 30-90 additional minutes each week for reflection upon the weekly content, although this is completely optional - absence of time between calls will not affect the integrity of the course.

My muse held a mirror in her hand, showing me parts of myself, and others, I had long forgotten, like family members who have already passed. I got to re-live experiences with them, which was really beautiful. This journey through writing has been is such a gift. Thank you, Julia!!”

FAQs
Do I need prior writing experience?
No, you do not need any prior writing experience to join this course. You will be guided to write from an intuitive place, grounded in presence and supported by mindful meditative practice. You will be shown examples that will help to understand the prompts and techniques, and receive optional feedback to help improve your pieces. Writing is a deeply therapeutic practice and can be enjoyed by all!
What if I miss a live session?
While we do recommend that you aim to attend all sessions, if you can’t attend you are welcome to watch the video and work along at your own pace. All sessions will be recorded and shared. You will receive a post-webinar worksheet that will detail the practices and prompts worked with during the call. You will also be added to a group Whatsapp where you will be included in the discussion, meaning you will always remain with us on the journey!
If I am a writer will this be relevant?
Yes - the prompts are unique in their level of insight, depth and exploration. Craft tools are explained in alternative ways and you’ll find lots of great quotes to inspire your work. The guided process itself is a journey and the combined ritual practice of meditative presence, therapeutic enquiry and creative writing is rarely found and will deepen your writing experience and process considerably.
Can I do this course if I live in a different timezone?
Yes - there are two options for the course, meaning you can choose which works best. Calls will be recorded so you can catch up on anything missed. If your timezone does not match with the existing course times, please let us know - or find a friend and we can set up a course at a time that suits you (minimum of 2 participants to run a course on alternative dates/times.
How much time per week will this likely take?
The minimum course requirement is 2 hours for the live calls. We also recommend an additional 30-90 minutes during the week to reflect on the prompts and develop your work, although this is not necessary.
I’m nervous. Do I have to share my work?
There is no expectation that you need to share anything - however, this is a safe, supportive space and you will have optional opportunities to share, should you wish to receive some reflection and encouragement.
Will this be emotionally challenging?
Memoir as a writing technique by nature refers to writing from past memory. We will be tapping into some therapeutic writing techniques that may bring up emotion, if you choose to go back to painful memories, however the energy is generally light, inspiring and connective. The intention is not to dwell on the past or share deep details but rather re-write them into a place of beauty and strength and to find a wisdom and meaning within them. Even the hardest points of our lives contain wonder when contemplated with knowledge of their greater meaning. Many of the prompts are focused on the smaller moments of our lives and tend to bring a sense of nostalgia, wonder and poignancy. It is entirely up to you which memories you choose to explore and most people find this to be a very empowering process of self-understanding and creativity, that leaves you feeling peaceful and inspired.
Do I have to do the prompts on screen or can I write by hand?
No - the choice is yours whether to write on a word program or in your journal. Both are effective for different reasons.
I really want to do this but I cannot afford the full cost at the moment. Are there any options for me?
Yes - you are welcome to pay via a payment plan to split the cost into two or three payments. Failing this, please email Julia on createspaceyoga@gmail.com to ask about our partial scholarships.
I’d love to eventually turn my memoir into a blog or a book, but I don’t know where to start.
Consider adding on a mentorship package with Julia - this can be done alongside (during) or after the course and will be very supportive in helping you refine your writing, get clear on the direction and set goals for completion. Find out more here.
