Prior to all this, I don’t think I ever really considered creativity as something essential to life. Now, I feel grateful and inspired, and find myself wanting to tend to that inner cauldron.”

About The Format …
We meet for six, 2-hour webinars in small, intimate groups at a choice of two time slots - we recommend cohort 1 for Americas, Asia and Australia, and cohort 2 for Europe, Asia and Australia. All calls are strongly recommended to gain the full experience of the course and for group stability. Calls will be recorded and notes shared for those who need to miss a session. See bottom of page for specific call times.
During this call we will:
discuss a theme as a group
work with guided meditative practices to access a mindful state of inspiration and enquiry
explore sample pieces of writing to explore style and content
dive into personal creative writing based on prompts that are tailored to the theme and the moment
write from prompts using both Memoir technique and Writing Therapy practices
have opportunities to share your writing and receive support and feedback
For each call you will receive a summary worksheet, including suggestions for optional mindfulness practices and writing prompts during the week.
This is a small, intimate group experience with live support and guided practices continued through our Whatsapp group during the week
Minimum course commitment is 2 hours for live calls each week, or watching the replay if necessary.
We also recommend setting aside 30-90 additional minutes each week for reflection upon the weekly content, although this is completely optional - absence of time between calls will not affect the integrity of the course.

WHAT OUR PARTICIPANTS SAY:
“I truly can’t say enough about all that I received from attending this writing retreat with Jiya. Her loving, soulful presence and the way she held such sacred space for authentic, creative expression was just amazing. The experience left a profound impact on my life. I feel more confident in myself, more open to sharing my creativity, and I made life long friends & memories that I will forever cherish. I can’t wait to join Jiya again for another offering in the future!”
“I love how Inner Muse brought me to a timeless space where I could reflect deeply and return to corners of my life that I hadn’t ventured to since the memories themselves were formed. My muse held a mirror in her hand, showing me parts of myself, and others, I had long forgotten, like family members who have already passed. I got to re-live experiences with them, which was really beautiful. This journey through writing has been is such a gift. Thank you, Julia!!”
“This retreat was completely soul enriching. Julia leads ceremony and holds sacred writing space in a beautiful way. FAQs
Do I need prior writing experience?
No, you do not need any prior writing experience to join this course. You will be guided to write from an intuitive place, grounded in presence and supported by mindful meditative practice. You will be shown examples that will help to understand the prompts and techniques, and receive optional feedback to help improve your pieces. Writing is a deeply therapeutic practice and can be enjoyed by all!
What if I miss a live session?
While we do recommend that you aim to attend all sessions, if you can’t attend you are welcome to watch the video and work along at your own pace. All sessions will be recorded and shared. You will receive a post-webinar worksheet that will detail the practices and prompts worked with during the call. You will also be added to a group Whatsapp where you will be included in the discussion, meaning you will always remain with us on the journey!
Can I do this course if I live in a different timezone?
Yes - there are two options for this round of the course, meaning you can choose which works best according to your timezone.
How much time per week will this likely take?
The minimum course requirement is 2 hours for the live calls. We also recommend an additional 30-90 minutes during the week to reflect on the prompts and develop your work, although this is not necessary.
I’m nervous. Do I have to share my work?
There is no expectation that you need to share anything - however, this is a safe, supportive space and you will have optional opportunities to share, should you wish to receive some reflection and encouragement.
Will this be emotionally challenging?
Memoir as a writing technique by nature refers to writing from past memory. We will be tapping into some therapeutic writing techniques that may bring up emotion, if you choose to go back to painful memories, however the intention is not to dwell on the past but rather to find the wisdom and universal meaning within them and re-write them into a place of beauty. Even the hardest points of our lives contain wonder when contemplated with knowledge of their greater meaning. Should you wish to share, the space is created with compassion and safety. Many of the prompts are focused on the smaller moments of our lives and tend to bring a sense of wonder and poignancy. It is entirely up to you which memories you choose to explore and most people find this to be a very empowering process of self-understanding and creativity, that leaves you feeling peaceful and inspired.
Do I have to do the prompts on screen or can I write by hand?
No - the choice is yours whether to write on a word program or in your journal. Both are effective for different reasons.
I really want to do this but I cannot afford the full cost at the moment. Are there any options for me?
Yes - you are welcome to pay via a payment plan to split the cost into two or three payments. Failing this, please email Julia on createspaceyoga@gmail.com to ask about our partial scholarships.
I’d love to eventually turn my memoir into a blog or a book, but I don’t know where to start.
Consider adding on a mentorship package with Julia - this can be done alongside (during) or after the course and will be very supportive in helping you refine your writing, get clear on the direction and set goals for completion. Find out more here.
